Because of the military regime
there is still a question of whether
one should travel to Burma.
This is to do with the revenue
the regime gains from foreigners.
It is now my view that if you travel independently,
the government gets very little of your dollars,
and guesthouses, restaurants and shops
benefit from your travels.

Also, and more importantly,
were the number of people
who were genuinely pleased to see us.
